About Monica Cooper

Monica is a registered psychologist with experience working with individuals across the lifespan, including children, teens, young adults and adults.

Monica was born in the Northern Territory and studied Psychology in Western Australia. She was awarded Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), with honours in 2006. Prior to completing her Psychology honours degree, Monica gained experience working with young adults where her work focused on providing community mental health supports for the North Metro Health Service.

Her career has predominately focused on working with people in response to disability related factors, including extensive experience supporting Autistic individuals. She has an in-depth knowledge of the NDIS, having worked as a Planning and Support coordinator to support the roll out of the scheme in 2014. With a Graduate Certificate in Autism Diagnoses, Monica is also an experienced diagnostic clinician having completed multi-disciplinary assessments for children, teens and young adults in her role at the Autism Association of WA.

Monica is a friendly and approachable therapist who is able to help with a wide range of presenting issues. Monica’s approach is client centred and she draws on her experience and a range of evidence based strategies including CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy. She practices trauma informed care and has worked with individuals with a broad range of cultural backgrounds.
