Business Profile

After working as a Psychologist for 10 years within the government and not-for-profit sectors, Judy Marty established Deep Blue Psychological Services in May 2007.  

There are a number of different approaches to counseling and therapy, and the approaches used at Deep Blue Psychology are tailored to meet the needs of each individual. Techniques and strategies used have been shown to be effective in facilitating change and positive outcomes, including CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy.



About Judy Marty

Judy was born in a rural North Queensland community. She studied in Queensland and was awarded a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Psychology, with honours in 1996 and 1997 respectively. Prior to completing her Psychology honours degree, Judy gained experience working with young children where her work focused on child development.

Judy moved to Western Australia as a Registered Psychologist in 1999. She worked for 13 years in rural and remote WA, and has resided and practiced in Perth for the last 7 years. She continues her work with adults, children, and families; A position that she feels privileged to hold. Judy received a Significant Contribution Award (see here) in 2017 from the APS Division of General Psychological Practice.

Judy has a range of therapeutic techniqes that she can draw upon, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and clinical hypnotherapy.

About Bethany Price

Following the completion of her Bachelor of Arts (Psychology, Criminology, and Justice), Bethany pursued her post-graduate studies and was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Psychology and ultimately, a Masters in Psychology (Professional).

Bethanys initial professional experience and counselling was focussed in the area of domestic violence. Her work has since expanded and her expertise now covers a broad spectrum of psychological issues impacting children, adolescents, and adults.

Bethany works across a range of different evidence-based approaches, including: CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy.

About Victoria McGowan

Victoria was born in Perth, Western Australia. Motivated by a keen interest to understand human behaviour and well being, Victoria completed two degrees at the University of Western Australia - a Bachelor of Health Science (majoring in Psychology) and a Bachelor of Psychology. Victoria then went on to complete a Diploma in School Psychology. In the 10 years since University, Victoria has worked in the mental health sector as a research assistant, program coordinator, mental health manager and Psychologist. Recently, Victoria completed her 4+2 Psychology Internship and is now practicing as a General Psychologist. Victoria has over three years experience working with adolescents and adults from all walks of life.  

Victoria strongly believes in working in partnership with a client to achieve their goals; focusing on the cause of a clients mental health issues rather than just treating the symptoms. Victoria believes this helps to prevent further mental health issues and results in long term mental health improvements.

Victoria has an open mind when it comes to her clients, understanding that everyone is different and requires a unique approach. Victoria has a strong appetite for implementing evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.

About Anna Hassan

Anna is a Counsellor with experience working with a range of clients, including clients with autism and other disabilities. Anna is particularly experienced working with children and adolescents, and also often works with parents or the family unit as with family therapy. She also works with adults individually and for couples therapy.

Anna’s particular professional interest areas are autism, disability, and trauma. She frequently works with a range of presenting issues however, and values building a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients. She is experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

About Mark Bivens

Mark is a registered psychologist with qualifications in Psychology and Education.

His Ph.D. was in the field of A-D/HD management and he has worked as a school psychologist in WA since 1989.

He has also taught at UWA and Curtin University.

Mark has worked with adults, children and adolescents, particularly those with special needs, and is proficient in cognitive and psychoeducational assessments.

Mark has capacity to take on new assessment referrals.
